I completely agree that NCERTs (6th-12th) are the foundation for UPSC. Many aspirants ignore them and jump to advanced books, which makes their basics weak. I personally revised NCERTs twice before moving to Laxmikant, Spectrum, and other reference books. Conceptual clarity is the key!

True! NCERTs help in building a strong base. But do you think revising them twice is enough, or should we go through them 3-4 times?

In my experience, two revisions are fine if you are making short notes. However, for subjects like History and Geography, additional revisions help!

You're absolutely right! NCERTs lay the foundation. Ideally, 2 revisions can work if your understanding is solid, but for factual subjects like history or science, going through them 3-4 times can really help with retention. It also depends on how well you grasp concepts in the first few reads. What’s your target exam?

Absolutely! NCERTs provide the strongest foundation for UPSC preparation. They simplify complex concepts and ensure conceptual clarity, which is crucial for understanding advanced books like Laxmikant and Spectrum. Revising them twice is a solid strategy, but for subjects like History and Geography, an extra revision or making concise notes can be even more beneficial.
